The Technical Coordinator of the Office of The President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Samuel Appiah-Kubi, paid a visit to Vilnius

On June 19-26, 2026, the Technical Coordinator of the Office of The President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr. Samuel Appiah-Kubi, paid a visit to Vilnius. The visit was curated and moderated by Artūras Roškovskis, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Ghana. Together with them, the team of the Scarabaeus Innovation Center of UAB GJ Magma discussed the continuation of the cooperation launched in February of this year, expanding cocoa tree cultivation in the savannah zone in the Republic of Ghana with the innovative technology for applying a soil modifier from sapropel. The economic aspects and compliance with state priorities of the project to develop scientific research and technological development to modify unproductive soil in the savannah zone of the Republic of Ghana were also discussed. The operational tasks and deadlines were specified, the main terms of the contracts were discussed, and the corresponding protocol was signed. The possibility of implementing a joint project with the UN World Food Program Innovation Accelerator in 2026-2027 was approved. The guest was introduced to the history of Old Lithuania through the exhibition of the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania. The cooperation is ongoing.

The soil of sunny Azerbaijan is waiting for Lithuanian sapropel

We know the Republic of Azerbaijan as a country rich in oil and blessed with a mild subtropical climate. However, extreme global climate change and unsustainable economic activity have caused soil degradation in some mountainous regions and reduced its productivity. The country’s leadership has identified increasing the competitiveness of agriculture, including transforming unproductive soil into fertile land, as one of the key priorities of its economic policy.

Lithuanian sapropel has found its way to the African savannah

The team of the Innovation Center “Scarabaeus” celebrated the Lithuanian Independence Day on February 16 in the African Republic of Ghana at the invitation of the Minister of State for Special Initiatives, Hon. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum (MP).

 The possibility of developing joint activities with partners from the Republic of Ghana for modifying unproductive soil into fertile soil with a soil improver made of sapropel created by GJ Magma, Ltd. was discussed. The negotiations were initiated and moderated by the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in the Republic of Ghana, Artūras Roškovskis.

Special attention was paid to the use of ameliorant from sapropel for planting cocoa tree seedlings in new plantations in the savannah transition zone together with the GHANA COCOA BOARD.

An agreement was reached with SUNYANI TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY to carry out a joint pilot project.

Our representative in Circular Economy Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

On December 1–2, 2025, our representative participated in the first Circular Economy Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The Forum brings together the region’s leading decision-makers, investors, and innovation leaders. The event was held at the request of Saudi counterparts who wish to engage directly with Nordic and Baltics experts from the public, academic, and private sectors. The forum offered an opportunity to connect with key industrial and governmental stakeholders on themes of sustainability and green transition. The focus was not just on politics, but on concrete investments and partnerships in the circular economy. We are glad to announce that our representative had the opportunity to share our achievements in the development of technology to modify unproductive soil into fertile soil in arid zones.
